World book day

Hi, my name is Skye and it's world book day today so I dressed up as Pinocchio, its one of my favourite books I have ever read in my LIFE (so far). We had a HUGE assembly to celebrate who won the fancy dress competition my friend, Layla, won the year six prize, I was so proud of her because she took a long time to make it, she came a billionaire boy's Dad, it was so creative. I missed most of the day because I was doing a special  Yorkshire sculpture park project, it was extremely exiting.

who's your favourite  character?

World book day!!!

Hello guys , its Keana here and today at school was world book day. I dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood (I also had real cakes in my basket). The person who won in Y6 was Layla, who dressed up as billionaire boys dad, she won a Easter egg. But she wasn't the best in the school because William won the overall from all the year group, his costume was the gingerbread man, he went through a lot of trouble to get the gingery look ( I mean he got a spray tan ) and the result of that he won a day out for 3! And I personally thought Miss Nicholson was the best dressed teacher.

At our school we go around the whole school(in different groups)and we do different fun activities about varies book characters. And then at the end of the day everyone goes into the assembly hall and the teachers say who won for each year group and then the overall.

so in the comments please could you say,

What your favourite book is and why?

My friend Skye came as Pinocchio but she didn't win because me and Skye were doing a special Yorkshire Sculpture Park project but that isn't the point my favourite outfit that a teacher wore is Mr Duncan with a full Batman suit. My favourite memory By Keana

My favourite time of Year 6 was Eden Camp, particularly when Mrs Spears was scared when a statue moved behind her; she jumped and screamed! The public that was around us all stared whilst our group just laughed. It was even funnier because the statues were meant to do that and it was pitch black so we couldn't see clearly!

My Favourite Memory . . . By Erin

When I found out who was in my class and who my teacher was. This is because all my friends are in my class and I have a teacher who I really wanted in Year 5! I was also happy because last year my friends were in another class and I really do not want it to happen again! I've had a great year!

My favourite memory: Skye 6D

My favourite memory was when I was given a place, with seven other people, to visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It was my favourite memory because we looked at different sculptures and we also got to listen to how and why the artist created their master piece. We also learnt about what it represented. I had the time of my life and we even got to make our own piece of land art, which is basically just art made out of things you may find on the ground.

My Favourite Memory In School

My favourite memory of school is doing the 5 Towns Spelling Bee, where we competed against 5 other schools in our area at Castleford Academy. I really enjoyed it because I was with my friends and I also love to do spellings. We all had an amazing time and we were crowned victorious!

My Favourite Memory By Millie 6D...

My favourite memory in Year 6 is when I met Faith as a friend and we now get to work together for the rest of this year. We both have very funny memories that will stay with us! We can't wait to create more fun memories at CPJA!

Volcano Poetry

This week for our homework we were told to create an acrostic poem to represent a natural disaster, one of the brightest pupils in our class wrote this poem about a Volcano. She used her imagination very well whilst creating this piece of homework. We have a lot of other talented children in our year. Come back next week to find out what we've been up to.

Hi ,and welcome back to our Year 6 Blogs. In our Topic ,we are doing on Natural Disasters such as Tsunamis ,Volcanoes ,Tornado and Earthquakes. Below is a picture of Millie Hufton's homework she has done a Volcano and wrote facts about it. One of the facts stated Furious bubbling liquid slowly oozing out of the mouth ,swimming motionlessly around the boisterous ,deadly mountain creating masses of chaos within the land. WOW!

We would like to give you a warm welcome back to our year 6 blog,

As you may know, we have been focusing on Natural Disasters quite a lot and we have developed some descriptive writing. Here is an example of some of the work we have been writing. We have been working extremely hard towards this piece of work and we have also done a piece on a Tsunami and a Volcano.

Tsunami Art

In Year 6, we have been learning to create a pastel drawing on Tsunamis that links to our Natural Disasters topic. We have been trying different techniques to try and build up the effect of the waves.  Here are some examples of Art work from 6D.
